Carina Fernandes is a multidisciplinary, creative hurricane - known for her bubbly personality and raw Rotterdam sound. Her art is created from a sense of necessity, as it is her call of freedom. Creating has been a way to reflect, understand and to survive. As an ART-ivist she expresses through Spoken Word and R&B/Soul, simply sharing her journey through life and deconstructing social themes and taboos. As a teacher her aim is to empower, open up intergenerational conversations and stimulate her students to explore their creativity within.  

Since 2017 her platform Verbalism - "Consciously Connecting Creators" - organizes (international) cross-disciplinary events. Through intimate events the emphasis is to empower and connect (Q)BIPOC creators.   

You might know her performances at local events such as Bevrijdingsfestival Z-H, Woorden worden Zinnen or Amsterdam Pride. However her sound spikes interest internationally - as she performed on several stages in London, Miami and Cologne.
